Circular Rhythms

This book is a collection of odd meter rhythmic motifs written in 4/4 time. Each exercise features one simple motif cycled through all possible four bar permutations of the phrase. The repetitive cycling of the motif creates a circular, polyrhythmic, "over the bar line feeling" by implying a different time signature on top of the original 4/4 meter. This book was written to help you become comfortable hearing, feeling, and playing 3/8, 3/4, 5/8, 5/16, 7/8, & 7/16 rhythmic hemiolas in 4/4 time. (68 pages)
