Moeller vs. Open/Close Technique
The Moeller Technique and the Open/Close Technique are both natural motion, multi-note stroke techniques that share the same three basic conceptual movement components: an initial movement, a rebound movement, and a return movement. Because of this mechanical simliarity, all open/close synchronizations will work for the Moeller technique, and all Moeller synchronizations will work for the Open/Close technique.
The difference between the two techniques is the size of the movements. The Moeller technique engages larger body structures (i.e. upper arms) to produce a louder sound. While the Open/Close technique uses smaller body structures (i.e. wrist, hand, and fingers) to produce a softer sound.
